Prevent cuts – For a solidary and social Dresden!

Dresden’s budget will lack over 70 million euros from 2025, as the state of Saxony is making less money available to the municipality. This budget shortfall is to be plugged primarily through massive cuts in social services, education and culture. The cuts will drastically reduce YOUR quality of life:

-Significant deterioration of Dresdenpass & social ticket
-Restriction of services for the integration of refugees
-Deletion of over 70 jobs in social work
-Reduction of youth and equality work
-Less funding for health & education
-Higher waste disposal charges due to the privatization of city cleaning services
-Restriction of services for people with disabilities
-Up to €100 more daycare fees per month
-Reduced cultural and sporting activities
-Less help for people with addiction and dementia
-Fewer women’s and violence protection projects
-Higher rents due to property tax
-Higher rents due to the property tax increase
-Cancellation of street social work for homeless people
-Longer waits for buses and trains

We call on the city of Dresden to abolish the municipal debt brake and to fight together with other Saxon municipalities for more money from the state of Saxony. We say: Don’t get the money again from those who don’t have it, but from those who have more than enough – and that means the super-rich, banks and large corporations. We are also calling for prestige projects to be abandoned, such as the forecourt of the new administration center, the design of which is to cost 4 million euros, and the planned construction of a new concert hall on the Königsufer, in which Dresden is to contribute 15 million euros.
